Avalon Renovables announces that its H2 Alperujo project, developed in the municipality of Martos (Jaén), has been awarded the STEP Seal, a distinction granted in the IF24 call for proposals resolved in October, which certifies the excellence and high quality of the project in accordance with the technical and impact criteria established by CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency).
Obtaining the STEP Seal is an important European endorsement, which is only granted to projects that demonstrate a high degree of maturity, innovation, technical soundness, and contribution to decarbonization objectives. This seal can be awarded within five major European Union programs: Horizon Europe, EU4Health, European Defense Fund, Digital Europe Program, and Innovation Fund.
Currently, 510 European projects have received the STEP Seal, of which 301 have obtained funding. In Spain, 133 seals have been awarded, and within the Innovation Fund program, the most relevant for energy transition technologies, 281 seals have been awarded. Combining both figures, only 44 Spanish projects have been distinguished within the Innovation Fund, including H2 Alperujo.
This recognition positions H2 Alperujo as one of the most advanced and highly regarded projects in Europe, reinforcing Avalon Renovables' vision of leading sustainable solutions based on the valorization of olive grove by-products and the production of renewable energy.
Avalon Renovables will continue to advance the development of the project with a commitment to adding value to the region and contributing to the energy transition through innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence.
