The H2 Alperujo project provides a solution to a waste management problem by providing the market with a sustainable, competitive and replicable energy solution.
Our plant, strategically located in Martos (Jaén), takes advantage of the residual product of the olive oil industry, the olive pomace, transforming it into different high value products for the energy market.
Planned production in Martos (Jaén):
Biomethane: 100 GWh/year.
Biogenic CO2: 12,400 tons/year, from the digestion process.
Green methanol: 8,400 tons/year
Other by-products: olive pomace oil, compost and fertigation water.
Through an advanced anaerobic digestion process, the Martos plant will be able to supply 100 GWh/year of biomethane, equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 13,700 households. The biomethane will be fed into the existing gas grid located less than 5 km away.
Most of the biogenic CO2 generated in Martos will be used as a feedstock for the production of green methanol and its subsequent commercialization in various industrial sectors. Another part of the biogenic CO2 will be liquefied for transport and commercialization in the agri-food and chemical industries.
The Martos facilities will also have an electrolysis capacity of 15 MW, based on renewable energies dedicated to meeting the production of 100% RFNBO methanol.
With this project, Avalon Renovables promotes local development and the evolution of a strategic sector, such as the olive oil industry, through innovative solutions that pave the way towards a competitive and sustainable energy future.
